Problem with C5 front suspension heights

Unread post by aerodynamica »

Hi all, I've had a long term problem with the C5 front suspension heights. Basically the normal ride height is fine and selecting LOW sends it south and a message appears showing a low profile and a confirmation. Returning to normal height does the same. Problem is with intermediate and high settings. When I set it to intermediate height it will raise front and rear as expected, the rear stops at the right height but the front continues to maximum height. The message that it has reached intermediate never appears and the pump can be heard continually pumping. When I set it to maximum height the rear will then raise to maximum and the front (already at max) does nothing more. The pump continues to run and the Maximum height message never appears..

I had sourced a new height sensor and decided to see if fitting this at the front would change anything. A reasonably straightforward job apart from the actual lifting out and disconnecting of the rod has to be done blind and the refitting too..

Unfortunately this has made no difference to the height issue and I am wondering if anyone has an idea of what it might be. There was obviously no problem with the old sensor or the rod sticking. Is there a calibration for the intermediate and maximum heights required? If so, how was this lost in the first instance especially since the low position works normally.

Graeme,
Does the X7 have only one height sensor on the front like the facelift? I thought it would be like the c6 and have two...
Have you looked at the height live data to see if it continues to change right through the motion?
Is it possible the other "temporary fault" documented earlier is masking the info flowing to the BSI which would provide the trigger to the display.

best of luck with it....

That's a good thought! It didn't even occur to me..

Well, I don't think I can view live date because I only have a Lexia 3 with the cloned software. And yes, the C5X7 only has one height sensor on the front axle and one on the rear axle without the fancy C6 set up although perhaps the V6 version does have the extra sensors? I'm kind of glad it doesn't though as the simplified system with the H3/+ is brilliant anyway.

Possibly I'd have to take it to the dealer and have them read the data

V6 C5 X7s have 4 height correctors - one on each wheel and an additional suspension computer, although the C5 does not have the AMVAR system of the C6.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Bring it over to East Calder on a Saturday and I'll get Diagbox on it for you.
