hi all, been reading many threads for info trying to help a friend work out the issues with his Citroen dispatch 3 - 1.6 T-Diesel (9HU) van.
58 plate
VIN - VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
the van starts and will run fine but wont rev over 2000rpm. so in limp mode?
i did a code read and got many codes, cleared them, start the van up and re-scanned it.
just incase any where old non cleared codes.
P0299 turbo pressure electro - valve control. turbo too low compared to setting
P1471 EGR motorized throttle valve, open circuit
P0122 EGR throttle position copy signal, short circuit to earth
P0704 clutch switch signal, no signal or signal inconsistent.
P0113 inlet air temp signal(flow meter) short circuit to positive or open circuit
P0104 Flow meter signal, open circuit, short circuit to positive or earth of the sensor supply or signal
0404 oil temp sensor fault open circuit
040A oil gauge fault
05FF BSI internal fault ( BSI Reset)
04A1 front/rear courtesy light lighting control fault - short - circuit to positive - local
000A CAN fault - not characterised - local
-----------------------------
started the strip down of plastics to get to the EGR valve, had a feeling one of the pipes would be knackered due to the P0299 code. (low pressure) (as i did one a while back for my other mate's focus) and it was the pipe that connects to the turbo. had two split's and a hole in it.
he sourced a 2nd hand pipe from a breakers and that sorted that issue.
so someone had tried to get this EGR valve off before, because they rounded off the left side bolt head.
so out comes the snakecam and tablet, so i can see what im doing.
took the electrical part off the top of the EGR valve to make it a bit easier.
in the end i had to grind the bolt head off with a dremel, also the pipe clamp wasn't done up tight either, due to the knackered Philips head bolt.
so fitted a new EGR valve and gasket. with new bolts from Citroen and Allen socket bolt for the pipe clamp to make that easier to do up.
did a clear and rescan and the P1471 code has gone.
but the P0122 EGR throttle position copy signal was still showing.
strange coz we changed the EGR valve and still have this ? did a google on P0122 and it comes up with P0122 code is the generic OBD-II code defined as “Throttle Pedal Position Sensor/Switch (TPS) A Circuit Low Input.”
so why the hell it says EGR....
anyways found the TPS was unplugged, so plugged that in and the code now has gone too.
my mate checked under the dash and found a plug unplugged, i assume it was the clutch switch signal error as that has gone now since rescanning.
the Inlet air and flow meter errors are because someone decided it was a good idea to leave the flow meter unplugged.
so checking the oil temp/level sensor. that also was left unplugged, plugged it back in but unfortunately the error code didn't go away after a clear/rescan.... so it needed a new sensor which fixed the issue and the code is now gone.
did a BSI Reset to clear the BSI code.
also i have noticed when you turn the ignition on. you dont get the EML light.
i wonder if the person he got the van from had left stuff unplugged to try not get the EML light up, but in the end took the bulb out the back of the clocks ?
hence why you never see the EML light up.
now we have just two left.
04A1 front/rear courtesy light lighting control fault - short - circuit to positive - local
000A CAN fault - not characterised - local
think the first one is because i turned off the cabin light, to do a BSI reset.
but never put it back to when doors are open..
but yet the van is still in limp mode and wont rev over 2000rpm, now im out of idea's
anyone else had this issue and resolved it. any help would be much appreciated.
thanks..

Re: Citroen dispatch van in limp mode
Fault codes can vary and can have different meanings depending on the constructor, so always important to relate codes direct to the specific engine ECU.
In the case of P0122 you mentioned:
Regarding the EML light, that's a very possible explanation as it should come on with ignition and distinguish shortly after the engine is running if there are no reasons for it to remain on. Probably to avoid MOT issues....
I'm not getting anything for those last faults, so there may be part of the code missing or your scanner can't provide the constructor code.
In the case of P0122 you mentioned:
| Fault Code: | P0122 |
| Description of Fault: | EGR throttle position copy signal earth: Short circuit to earth. The voltage of the EGR throttle position copy signal is less than 0,1V (For 250 milliseconds). |
| Conditions for Fault to clear: | Ignition on |
| Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active: |
|
| Symptoms: |
|
| Suspect Areas: |
|
I'm not getting anything for those last faults, so there may be part of the code missing or your scanner can't provide the constructor code.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Re: Citroen dispatch van in limp mode
cheers GiveMeABreak for above info.
yes i think that is what the previous owner did, to as you say get around mot issues.
as it doesn't light up at anytime when turning the key.
looks like the clocks are going to have to come out and check..
using a SnapOn solus ultra but software is old 15.2.
very expensive to upgrade software.
