Hi again fcf Peugeot section...
Pug 306 2l hdi estate 1999/2000 phase 3.
I need to remove the dash to gain access to the heater unit to replace a leaky heater matrix.
Any help/advise/tips greatly appreciated.
Does the cars loom have to come out with the dash or can the loom be left in place please ?
I will be removing the whole steering column as thats relatively easy to remove out of the way...
Thanks in advance, all help greatly appreciated.
I have the Haynes manual but as we all know they can be a bit vague at times...

Re: Dash removal
This brings back memories, 306 heater matrix, not one of Peugeot`s best designs, its a massive job. Its many years since I did this job, so I hope my memory is correct and of use.
I always removed the complete dash, heater, everything in one lump.Laid it near to the front seats, lent over and changed the matrix. Put simply remove steering column, Speedo cluster, centre consul, TIP? don't forget the wire to the brake light switch and the loom earth by the accelerator pedal. A few bits and bobs that Haynes will tell you. ( I hope? ) Remove the wiper motor assembly to gain access to the dash securing nuts. Has the car got AC ? if so it will have to be connected up to a AC machine and de gassed. Then disconnect the AC pipes at the bulk head.
Very carefully remove the engine heater pipes from the matrix, there is a metal clip, a plastic lever and two rubber O rings. I always then destroyed the matrix pipes that go through the bulk head grommet. Reason being it makes it more easy to pull the dash away. Remember its all plastic, the matrix gets stuck in that grommet, you pull on the dash and part of the heater box can come apart. Before refitting give that grommet a good clean up, I used to file a bit away, plenty of slippery jelly. Getting the matrix to line up with the grommet and the dash studs to the holes in the bulk head is very tricky. Two guys in the car, another under the bonnet giving instructions.
Then everything in reverse, best of luck, you will need it, its a crazy job.

Re: Dash removal
Hi oldpug, EIS but think it's made by valeo...
My concern is the poor fitting bolt on plastic heater pipe stub.
Two bolts hold it on. One side is flush but the other side has a gap.
Will it leak I wonder !
Going to ecp tomorrow to compare...then take it from there....

Re: Dash removal
Because it was such huge labour job, I would only use an O/E Valio matrix. I suspect they are no longer available from Peugeot, GSF May be? Have a word with Dean Hunter at www.peugeotparts.co.uk he may have a genuine one.

Re: Dash removal
There is a Valeo distributor half a mile from me.
It appears that they (Valeo) do snack foods though.
Google search stuck so no further info.
