BSI problem in C4

Unread post by superjac »

Trying to keep alive my old C4. Just bought BSI from eBay and thought that my garage will do the job. Now I see that virgin soft is necessary. Is there any place to buy virgin software or virginize soft on my second hand new BSI?
Thank you for any reasonable advice.

You'll need to send it off to a specialist company to 'virginise' it for you, before it can be reprogrammed and to be honest, generally speaking, that is not a job for a local garage. A BSI should be downloaded from a PSA server so that the correct pairing to the engine ECU operation is completed, then the configuration is programmed according to vehicle, all the correct ECUs present and options and equipment fitted, then a manual check to check everything is ok.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Why did you buy the BSI? What fault does your car have? As it's been pointed out, replacing the BSI outright is very difficult. However, depending on the problem, it may be possible to repair the BSI.
If you want a "spare" BSI forget it! It's too hard...BUT it may be possible to repair your current BSI (if it were to fail) with components from your "ebay" BSI. So, potentially, it's not a waste.
If you have a terminal BSI failure, the easiest way (but not the cheapest way) is to buy a "kit" of used parts from a donor car.
Even if you managed to "virginize" the BSI you will need a LEXIA to reprogram the system, the engine ECU pin code and brand new central locking transmitter boards (for the keys). Then, as stated, you will need to go through all the LEXIA options to setup the cars' configuration.
So you can see why it's typically easier to repair the BSI than replace it.
