You meet people like him at every motor auction, all have the same idea that a quick buck can be made doing what the traders do but it rarely works out unless you really know what you are doing.
I wonder if the electronics were buggered up when they were clocking it back to 40k miles.
I've seen cars like that go through the Wednesday auction bought by the 'lads', tarted up and sold for a nice profit at the Friday auction at the same place all without warranty of course.
I have seen that video before. .......... on here maybe?

Perhaps he should have bought one of these:

Finally got around to viewing this video. Amazing how many things are wrong with the car. And the cost! Glad it wasn't me (although I wouldn't mind the facilities he seems to have).

A lot of the problems could probably be fixed for minimal cost if the man knew what he was doing Paul,

Reading through the comments it seems the first thing to look at is the hood (and I mean hood!) mechanism.

As someone who owned a VW Phaeton for three months, there's no such thing as a cheap luxury car.
I think the window for ownership of an expensive VW/Bentley is the first 2 or 3 years while it's still under warranty.

Re: ... and People Think Citroen Electronics are Bad!
I might argue with that Ross but it does depend on one's definition of a luxury car! I have owned my Subaru Legacy 2.5 SEN now for 15 months and found it to be excellent in every way once I had swapped out the standard 17" alloys for 16" with higher profile tyres giving the same rolling diameter. It is an 18 year old car but equipped with electric Sunroof, ice cold Aircon, Full Leather upholstery, electric adjustable and heated seats, electrically adjusted and heated mirrors, multi CD player, Bluetooth connection added, lots of legroom in the rear, a caverness boot, armrests front and back, satnav, trip computers with 3 seperate counters allowing overall, tankfull and journey to be recorded independantly, 6 other modes for the info screen covering maintenance, dealer network, economy driving, basic position and time, menu for vehicle settings and radio tuning. To me that is luxury and with the 4 wheel drive and 2.5 litre engine it is no slouch but still returns me an average 42mpg. It cost me £2800 to buy and so far has cost £83 in brake pads and an exhaust bandage. If that is not cheap luxury motoring then you may be right!!

It's not that we think Citroen electrics are bad, we know they are bad! As for buying a luxury car from an auction your just asking for trouble, if it was any good it would be on the forecourt.

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Re: ... and People Think Citroen Electronics are Bad!
I've watched many Samcrac videos in the past (along with lots of other ones), and the thing with him and so many others like him is it's somewhat immaterial as to whether they're good mechanics or not - they're much more interested in just generating Youtube content that people will watch. Some of them are watchable, some less so, but buying a vehicle with a 'hidden issue' often makes for a good Youtube video - it's a tried and tested formula. I think Samcrac will be the first to say he's not an expert mechanic - but in reality it doesn't matter...... he's got 1.23million subscribers. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
