I recently had the usual message on the screen, that the reversing parking assitance was faulty.
Based on what I had read from various sources, with the car in reverse, I tried a mobile on record, listening for a 'clicking' noise or lightly touching each sensor, in the hope I would feel a light vibration. The idea being that the faulty sensor would be identified. No such luck, all sensors appeared unstimulated.
I then bought an OBD2 code reader, which immeditely identified the defective sensor, this I changed and the system is now fine.
I have now come to the conclusion therefore, that on this vinitage of car a least, one faulty sensor, sends the whole system ' to sleep ' and the only way to find the faulty one, is by code reader or by changing each sensor, one at time and retest each time, in order to find the defective one.

That is correct. It is by design.
