Hi, I've just bought a Citroen C1 (a funky 3-door job), but when I opened the boot for the first time, I pushed the button, and tried lifting it from the ridge below the button (like on my wife's car) rather than the actual handle on the back windscreen. I gave it a couple of tugs thinking it was a bit stuck before realising I was trying to pull completely the wrong bit. Yes, I can be a bit stupid like that. Anyway, I read the user guide ...
So, just to put my OCD mind at ease, is there any possibility I could have damaged something? There's no sign of any damage or anything broken and there's no sinister rattling, but I'm just worried I might have done something by trying to lift up something that shouldn't be lifted up.
Thanks in advance!
Ben

If nothing came off in your hands then the only thing you've damaged is your pride. Don't worry about it

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Slightly related:
I replaced my Prius tailgate button cover this week. People use it as a handle in the same way, and eventually the thing just comes away in your hand.
The replacement part is nearly 400 quid from Toyota. The aftermarket copy is $40 on Amazon and comes with a metal reinforcing plate so it won't snap again

Is it an issue with Nissan Quashqui too? Seems to be lots of those with duck tape handle adjournments!

True enough. There are two Quashqai within 200 yards of my house and they've both been duct-taped
