steering wheel fluid leak
Hello, I have a LHD 2012 C5 Estate 1.6. It has developed a power steering fluid leak. I have taken to Uk mechanic (I was in UK when leak happed) they said major job and Citroen no longer make the part to replace it. I then rang Citroen in uk myself and they also said the same. I can get the part number its 4014NT. I returned to france and took to our French mechanic and he said no nothing he can do, Citroen no longer make the part and it can't be repaired. I then went to citroen in France and they checked their data base for stock and nothing. I have searched the internet for days trying to source the part, eBay and every car part place in all eu you counties. I have been to several scrap yards her in France, again nothing. Is there anything left I can do, it seems so stupid that I have a good 10 year car with lots of live in it and can't get a part as they stopped laking them. It just doesn't make sense to me. Does anyone have any ideas ?? thanks

It's a common problem and one affecting lots of owners - you best bet is to try and get one modified or made up as you will unlikely be able to get one now and the car has been out of production for 8+ years now for the 1.6 and a little later for a couple of 2.0 engines.

Re: steering wheel fluid leak
There's a few things you can try if it's actually the end of the power steering pipe that is leaking, but these are far from a guaranteed solution - it's more luck than engineering that will seal it
You'll need either a very patient mechanic or a good friend with tools.
The usual problem is the pinion shaft on the steering rack rusts and wrecks the oil seal. It's a problem that affects every C5 of that vintage. It's well documented on here and you should be able to find places that will recondition your steering rack to cure that particular leak.
However.... the 2 pipes that feed into the steering rack rarely seal back up when you put them back in - one of them in particular corrodes badly. To try and fix that leak you can try using larger 'O' ring seals on the pipe - well documented on the forum. You could also - in extremis - glue/bond the pipe into place with a suitable adhesive, but it'd all need to be clean and oil free before you start. You can also make up a very small shim/washer to help the pipe sit tightly in its hole once it's tightened back in - use something like Coke can metal cut to size with wad punches. Basically, the pipe suffers from corrosion on the end and also doesn't fit tightly in its hole.
As I say - a far from guaranteed solution, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

yes it is. I had seen this. I emailed them but had no response. Wasn't sure if safe to buy it without talking to them first.Gibbo2286 wrote: 11 Aug 2022, 14:01 Is that this part?

Why worry about ordering from Turkey? 530 Lira is around €30...put it on your credit card and if it doesn't arrive, do a chargeback.Chezzy wrote: 12 Aug 2022, 13:08 I had sen this item for sale, I have emailed them to discuss the part but no reply. If you can't get one elsewhere, beggars can't be choosers
