How to remove the batten from the roof

Can you advise me how to remove the bar from the roof of a Citroen C5 X7. I need to take it off and not tear it. Is it okay? They say there are some plastic handles that crack. thank you for the advice

What bar?

There are no bars fitted in that picture - those are the sockets that the roof bars would fit into. You don't touch the item that you have arrowed in the picture - that is part of the vehicle!

It's the metal sheet that's on both sides. The arrow shows it.
