2013 c4 picasso

Unread post by MikeWoodford »

Can anyone throw any light on the issue with my car. After starting the car won’t go into A (drive) and throws up a gearbox fault. Engine is fine but you can’t drive anywhere. You have to disconnect the battery and all is ok again.
Had the battery replaced last year and all was good for 5 months, issue has now returned. Local Citroen cannot find any fault codes, and as it it happens randomly I can’t leave it with them until it faults and maybe they can find the issue.

Gearbox faults will leave a fault code recorded. Are you taking it to a Citroen Dealer or to an independent garage, as I can't believe the dealership would of told you that....

They are an approved Citroen dealer, but not a main dealer.

The reason I mentioned that is because a dealer would know that this sort of fault triggering will be recorded and logged which can be retrieved, hence my question. Once you have the fault code, pop it up here with your VIN and I can give you some pointers.

There are literally hundreds of fault codes for either the fully Automatic or Piloted Manual gearbox depending on what you have, so it will be pure guesswork without the fault codes.

Ok, so if and when you have them, just come back here and pop them up.

If there were no faults codes i would have updated the software in the gearbox & engine ECU’s.
Do you know if they checked if those ECU’s had the latest versions on them?

Final outcome resulted in fault codes p1755 and p0929. New dual mass flywheel and clutch needed. Apparently the clutch position sensor is in the release bearing and metal filings from the worn out clutch where giving incorrect readings to thecEGS system. Anyway £2k later and the car is running better that ever!
Luckily the gearbox actuator didn’t need replacing or that would have been another £1200😜
