P15B3 additive adding

Unread post by Cawlarsen »

Hi
I got this error code on my car P15B3 additive adding “Calculated additive level below minimum threshold”
it has nothing to do with the Adblue tank because it works as it should and registers every time I fill it up.
But I didn't think my car used both adblue and eolyse fluid but it seems it does.
Can anyone confirm this?
Does anyone know what kind of additive my car is missing, I suspect it is eolyse but Iam not sure.
Does anyone know where I can find the location of that container ?

You will have both systems on a Blue HDi - Both a Diesel Particulate Filter with Eolys additive and also an SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) System to treat the NOx which uses Adblue.

1) The warning message relates to the Eolys additive for the DPF, not the Adblue. So that may need topping up. How many miles has it done?
2) The Fault code above generally indicates that a software update is needed for the Automatic Gearbox ECU. So I would get Citroen / DS to check that out too. They will confirm with their own diagnostics.

So maybe you can get all this done at the same time.

Hi Marc
Thanks for you answer:)
The car has driven 178,000 km.
I could remove the error with Diagbox 9.68 but I have to fill it up now that I remove the error.
Do you know where this container/tank is locate?

You must reset the additive counter using Diagbox as you have mentioned - but only after topping up the additive with the correct type - so be careful.
The error will be removed once you have topped up the additive and reset the additive counter - if not, clear the fault code afterwards. You have a solid reservoir, not a pouch system, so needs the bottles with gravity-fed filling kit. From your build date it should be Powerflex.

The additive reservoir is next to the fuel tank and probably hidden behind the heat shield.

I have a 2018 Peugeot expert van with 2.0 Blue Hdi Engine, and the code P15B3 popped out, indicating Eolys top up is required. Does my car have Eolys additive system? Where can I find the additive tank to refill it if I got one? Thank you so much for your help.

Yes your vehicle will almost certainly have a DPF, but the system used depends on the engine. For that I'll need your VIN (please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff).

This code can mean that your engine management ECU software needs updating, so you'll need a dealer for that, as well as topping up the additive for which the engine ECU also needs intervention. So you may be better off booking it in for both operations.

Marc - How many miles would you expect to drive from new before needing an Eolys additive top up?

Ok, so you have both the SCR system that uses Adblue for the treatment of the NOx and a DPF system to capture particulate matter.

Your Eolys tank for the DPF additive will be hidden away somewhere next to the fuel tank (but be aware that you also have a tank for the UREA (Adblue)

You will need to probably remove heat shields to gain access, and you will need the additive counter reset in the engine ECU, so unless you have Diagbox and professional level diagnostic equipment, this is best left to a dealer to do. You'll need Powerflex additive specifically.

There's no straight answer to that as it depends on the vehicle, engine and system used. Each can have a different sized additive tank or pouch system, with quantities from a litre to 3 litres.

I can't help you with that Ian sorry, as currently we don't provide parts data / specs for later DS-Badged vehicles like the DS 7, unless it's something I have already, which I don't. We may well be supporting later DS models if demand increases.

As I can't get hold of your Build number, I can't advise on the additive, but the RPO should be listed on the wheel inflation label which I believe is on one of the door sills. Take a picture and pop it up and that should assist.

But you should be aware that there is an outstanding after-sales campaign being flagged up on your vehicle, so I would give DS a ring and they will be able to advise what the campaign refers to. Owners who don't use dealers for servicing can't be made aware of these issues as they have no idea who the new owners are. Whatever it is, the work will be free of charge and only they can tell you what is involved.

I think the one we are after is 15075 which would give you a build date of 16th February 2018. So that should be the latest Powerflex Additive.
