Berlingo 2000. Bosch fuel pump.

Unread post by TheSWE »

Hi
Advice needed :)

Have a Berlingo1 2000. Have changed the fuel pump for a second hand one. Now to the problem the immobilizer don´t like the new/old pump.

So question do I need to re program the new pump ? My initial thought is no, the car is to old, no Can bus. Is it even possible ?

Many thanks in advance

I take it this is a DW8 engine, you can't reprogram. You need to de-amour the pump for access to the stop solenoid. Never done it, more info will follow usually.

Do you have access to other parts from the same van the pump came off?
If not i'm afraid it's remove & de armour the pump & fit a regular non coded solenoid if its a DW8.
If its an XUD you can bypass the coded stop solenoid once the pump is de armoured.

Thanks for the replays :)
Yes it´s the DW8 engine.
Just wanted be completely sure, if their was an easier way to make things work ,game on :)
I have stripped the solenoid from the old pump and also the power supply part so just to do the same on the new pump and switch over the old parts.

They did not sure made it easy

Thanks once agian

Yes if you have the old solenoid just fit that in.
It would be a pretty pointless security system if it was easy to get past.

More questions............?

Any good advice on how to prime and air the system?
Looks like everything is ok solenoid is clicking and the immobilizer is shut off so everything is good their...
But it´s very hard to get pressure from the handpump and the diesel looks like it´s flowing back in to the fuel tank.
So any tricks to get the pressure going.

Many thanks in advance

Undo an injector pipe very slightly (injector end, very slightly) crank the engine over on the key until fuel dribbles out. By which time it usually tries to start.

Thanks for the advice :)

One more thing , the brass nipple screw above the solenoid. How far in to the housing should it be? , think I nipped it a little... when I took it apart, Is it sensitive ?

Many thanks in advance
