Installing Xsara MK2 tailgate door on MK1

Hello Every One,

I've a challenge and hope that someone here can help.
I want to install a boot door from Xsara Mk2 hatchback on my Mk1 model. Of course it fits as size, the wiring is the same except for one thing, the lock. . .
The new one came with electric lock with 3 wires working with 2 wires electric switch. which was not the case at the old one ( lock and unlock exactly like the doors with a mechanical bottom).

after asking around, i knew i should wire it from the BSI ( I reckon that i should add a wire on port 7 on the black plug ) but i couldn't figure out the right installation.

They both work completely differently. The mk1 has a solenoid which physically locks & unlocks the motor (by reversing the polarity) but the mk2 does not have any lock or unlock signal at the release motor, just a pulse to release it when there is an open request. The motor on the mk 2 works in one direction only to release it, it does not lock or unlock, when you lock the car the BSI just ignores the open request from the switch. I would say your best bet here would be to fit a hidden release button inside the car that just gives the motor a 12v pulse to open it.

Yes, I can to put an open switch inside the car with a direct 12v. to give the pulse to the motor. Still, I want to find a way to make also the tailgate switch to work. The problem is it need to go off when I close the car. Is there any way to make that connection through the BSI ?

I cant think there would be as the tailgate locking system is totally different.

It would be a bit inconvenient at times (staggering back to the car with shopping!) but maybe have an ignition controlled feed to the switches?

Another thought is to (somehow) use the pulse from unlocking the door locks to switch on a supply to the tailgate switches. I haven't anything to offer on how to actually do it though!

Maybe a possibility to use a directed feed (through diodes?) to alternately switch a latching relay on and off?

I figured out a solution and it totally worked.

I used the solenoid from the old tailgate to trigger a switch, which will provide the 12v to the lock motor.
I started with 12v from the Fuse box, devoted a 15A fuse for this line, and the line goes to a switch ( custom made one to be attached with the solenoid ), Then it goes directly to the tailgate switch.
When the car is closed the solenoid turn the switch off, so the tailgate switch has no power.
When the car is opened so the solenoid, the switch and the tailgate has now power to open.
It works really good now.
