C5 ABS FAULT HELP REQUIRED : )

Unread post by spiff »

Good afternoon gentlemen,

C5 2003 2 ltr petrol estate

I am after some information to make my life easier, as messing with the car is less fun as I grow older : )

The Digibox / Lexa comes up with the attached, for an ABS fault that shows on the in car display.

I read it could be the cable, the sensor, or the magnetic disc that is part of the wheel bearing assay.

Have any of you most learned gentlemen had the same fault and if possible, would you be so kind to assist by posting : )

Any images of the location of the sensor you may have.

If possible the location of the connection to the electronics under the bonnet.

Also the resistance of the sensor.

With the sort of images in the Haynes manual, parts could be on the moon.

If I know the resistance and the point of the connection under the bonnet I could disconnect and measure the resistance at that point.

This should if the resistance is OK tell me the cable and sensor are probably OK ?

At which point I can set fire to the car LOL

Not true it has lasted well for £200, and besides I have just replaced the battery, OEM 75 amps, £57 delivered with interesting label attached : )

Thank you for your time.

God Bless Spiff

Given that it says coherence, suggests that it passes the resistance test, but then is giving a bum signal vs the other wheels. It should be possible to see the live data in Diagbox and see what the wheel speeds are doing. My guess would be that the mag ring has disintegrated in the bearing - although I had trouble with one on a Xantia where the wire rubbed through just enough to cause stray signals when wet, but pass the resistance test! The sensor will be obvious enough if you follow the wire along the rear suspension arm.

Thank you for that Richard,

I am fine with computers we have seven, but not with the Diagbox, I have only used it once before to locate a faulty suspension height sensor and that was a few years back.

Now that we have a new battery, I can spend more time with the ignition on to test further : )

We had a Xantia with a fault on the ABS, if you braked hard on grass or a loose surface, the brake pedal would bounce and the braking judder.

The Citroen dealer in Penzance failed to find the trouble, they have since closed : )

They charged us for some device that adjusts the brake pedal pressure so they said ?

The cam belt failed about the same time, so I never found the trouble, it was a nice car.

Some times I wish I had had the engine repaired, as there was far less electronics than the C5 : )

It had only done 75000.
