Re: New 2nd generation C4
I've driven 3 of these petrol versions.
My observations:
+ It goes like Sh*t off a shovel. Amazing acceleration, very quiet petrol engine.
+ reasonably roomy inside.
- Access and Egress is terrible. The sills are very high up, so it's like getting in and out of a boat. Both myself and front passenger kept getting out legs caught when trying to get in and out. So on several occasions nearly tripped in and out of the vehicle.
- The large rectangular Touchscreen is central across the dash. I hated all aspects of it. Worse were the unintuitive controls and I spent ages trying to get anything done.
- Pairing a phone was almost impossible to do. I gave up on it.
- The Steering wheel control buttons are totally useless. They are a combo of a flip switch and a button,. Again, you spend more time trying to get your cruise programmed and activated than you do eyes on the road. Half the features were unusable as a result.
+ The car with hands free access locks and unlocks via proximity. Locking takes place as you walk away and beeps at you to confirm locking.
+ LED headlights are good.
+ Reasonable boot space.
+ Comfortable suspension (it has the Progressive Hydraulic Cushions)
Would I buy one - No. The controls are very bad and not easy to operate whilst driving and ditto when at a standstill. I currently use a touchscreen and although a recent convert, everything is easy to access and get to. This new system is just awful and that I'm afraid would be enough to prevent me ordering one - just too stressful.

Re: New 2nd generation C4
Cheers Marc, however I drove the ec4 and quite liked it, but it was just a 30 minute test drive so didn't get to play
But if you look at the picture I posted, it has a boot (510 litres) ! Therefore a saloon rather than the current Hatchback (380 litres).
Found more info C4-X

Re: New 2nd generation C4
I think the EV is slightly different Stu looking at the back end - looking at the rear light cluster too - so not sure whether this is specifically for the EV or just the saloon. The actual driving was great, but the inside environment, aesthetics and functionality is such a big part of the driving experience for me, so killed it as I know I would of been as miserable as sin suffering in it. I suppose it's a bit like going on a TVR but finding the inside is like a wooden box!
We've decided to stick with the diesel for years to come until they get all this electric nonsense sorted out and we're forced into having one. Hopefully by then they will have had a chance to provide something decent and sort out the electric infrastructure. Unless Hydrogen makes a huge leap forward!

Re: New 2nd generation C4
I would imagine all variants of the e-C4 (SUVCross) are be the same inside virtually. However, the interior of this one is likened to the C5-X so may be an improvement. Can't find it now but I read somewhere that this variant it will be coming to the UK in 2023 as EV only.
I agree with your comments about staying ICE until things settle down a bit, but I will probably have an EV-entually when those in on this planet are behaving thenselves again!!
As for Hydrogen, I think the car market will be low down the priorities for Hydrogen powered vehicles and therefore they and it will cost more as Hydrogen is expensive to produce, at the moment, unless you live somewhere where there is a lot of 'free energy' (Sun) which is not the UK!!. The main money will be around commercial vehicles as they are just too demanding for a battery and the technoolgy/system does not have to be as compact.

Re: New 2nd generation C4
Indeed!
I did have a watch of this though it's a Hydrogen Toyota Mirai - charging is a lot quicker!
