P1206 and P1113 Fuel pressure regulator control problem/fault HELP!

Post by muresan504 »

Hi, I have a problem that pisses me off.
First of all, specify the engine:
Citroen c3 year 2002
1.4hdi 16v 90hp
Delphi injection
I receive fault codes P1206 and P1113.
P1206 - Diesel high pressure regulation circuit Regulator control fault
P1113 - Diesel high pressure regulation circuit Maximum press rail pressure
I mention that the pressure regulator on the high pressure pump is new, the temperature sensor on the head of the common rail is new. I also did the injector return test and the test came out well.
I mention that the problem does not always manifest itself and it does not matter if the engine is cold or hot. The idle motor reaches 1600 bar pressure in the common rail and starts to make strange noise and the power cuts the engine stops. If I help with acceleration when the engine starts to make that normal sound, sometimes it recovers because the higher the speed, the more the injectors spray diesel and the pressure is removed from the ramp. (1600 bar idle pressure if this pressure should be in charge not at 780rpm) Please watch the attached videos to understand:

Part 3:

I mention that when I changed the regulator it did not have the power to give the final diagnosis to the high pressure pump as the cause of the problem and to get out of the calculations I also installed a new fuel filter. I measured with a multimeter the value that reaches the connector of the pressure regulator with the ignition on and I received a value of 9.8V.This irritates me because the problem does not always manifest itself, ie it does not always increase the pressure in the rail so high that the engine starts to make that iron-on-iron noise and cut off the engine power. There are cases when the engine runs "perfectly". When that noise appears, it puts too much pressure in the common rail, it cuts off the power supply and after that, if I want to restart the engine, sometimes it starts at the first key, sometimes only after several attempts.I love this car so much and I spent a lot of money on it and I don't regret it and I'm going to paint a set of new wheels and other modifications on the outside and I want to solve this problem because I've had it for a very long time.

Your battery voltage is way too high when the faults occur, have you confirmed that the alternator is not overcharging?
Too high or too low battery voltage could cause various strange problems.

Honestly, I didn't even think about this aspect, especially since it is written in the details of the defect code provided by lexia. The maximum voltage must be 14.4V and the minimum voltage 13.8V so? Anything that falls or rises below these values can cause the battery to malfunction or even explode. So to replace the alternator with a new one in the first phase?

I would at least take it a drive with a voltmeter connected to the battery & monitor the voltage when driving, see if its overcharging all the time or just it just overcharge at the same time as the fault occurs.

Ok, if it is overloaded all the time it's clear, the alternator is the problem or maybe it will have a relay, I'll look for it, but if it overloads when the problem occurs, how can I proceed afterwards?

If its overcharging then yes you have an alternator issue but you just need to confirm it actually is overcharging & not just a glitch in Lexia showing the wrong voltage.

Hi, I checked the load alternator according to the values, I made 2 more videos in which a "whistling" sound is heard and then the engine starts to lock (the pressure in the ramp increases inexplicably) at idle. When that "hissing" sound appears, the pressure in the ramp starts and goes up, which causes the idle to drop, and that engine sound seems to be in 3 pistons, which leads to the engine stopping.

Don't always do this when the engine is running properly! The same fault codes P1113 and P1206.

By the end of next Monday, the 27th, I will take the car to the Citroen dealer to solve the problem. I made an appointment there for service.

I finally solved the problem. It was the ecu problem. The ecu does not correctly control the fuel pressure regulator on the high pressure pump. I replaced the ecu and the problem disappeared.
