DS5 Number plate bulb changing

Hi
I know this is possibly a stupid question but how do I actually change the rear number plate bulb on my DS5?

I've checked the handbook and it says open up the lens and swap the bulb over which I've tried however I can't seem to get the bulb out of the connector!?

Don't want to pull it too hard and damage it!

Any tips?

The lenses have a small indent on one side that you can use a small flat head screwdriver to carefully prise up the lens part from the holder to get to the bulb.

If necessary both the lamp holders can also be prised out. On the right side of the right holder you need to use a plastic trim tool to angle in at the edge and push in the plastic clip that holds it in the socket. On the left one, the plastic part is on the left side.

Bulbs should be a W5W

I've done the lens removal part but just can't shift the blown bulb.
I'm guessing it's a case of persistence

Yes, those W5Ws are quire robust, so lever up the bulb end gently part way first, then you should be able to pull it out horizontally away from the fitting socket.

If you fancy an upgrade, it's the same common number plate light that's used on the Berlingo and countless other Peugeot/Citroen models, 6340F0. You can search for this part no on ebay or whatever There's a commonly available Chinese replacement for the entire unit with LED lights sealed inside a waterproof unit. The original just pops out, swap the connector over and clip in, it's probably easier than changing the bulb.

I'd previously tried LED bulbs inside the original unit on the Berlingo but they kept expiring, presumably due to the heat from them being on for a long time in such a confined space. I've had the LED sealed units on my Berlingo for lots of years and they're still great. Much nicer, brighter and crisper than light bulbs, they kind of serve as a secondary back light. I've had no issues with MOTs either. They'd probably also provide some good illumination for the reversing camera on the DS5 too. One example unit among many...

That just reminded me to upgrade mine too, to match the Berlingo. Did you just order the last one from that listing or was it someone else?!
