Berlingo 2001 90bhp engine. Done 180,000. Runs like a Swiss watch and no smoke. But it smells like an old paraffin heater.
Any know fix for this ?
Also, fumes are getting into cab and mrs is complaining. Exhaust leak ? Can’t see anything, but it does get worse if you open the window.
Cheers guys

Possibly a diesel leak on to a hot engine or exhaust, examine the injector connections.

The tailgate/boot sealing can cause that, the exhaust fumes get sucked in as you procced forward if the seal is damaged.

If it smells like paraffin or what I call an old traction engine it may be your EGR valve, I had this on my citroen relay and the top hat had broken off the valve, complete loss of power and loads of smoke to boot.

Re: Smelly 2.0hdi
Well, it flies through emissions test every year. So have doubts about EGR valve failing. It’s a Motorhome so no rear door seal issue although the back is permanently vented. I’ve had other diesel cars and never smelt anything like this.
If it’s a diesel leak where’s the place to look ? I’ll point out it stinks much worse on outside, so suggests to me it’s an exhaust leak.
