Inner Tyre Wear

Post by Jazz2001 »

I have massive Rear Inner Tyre wear which cause a blow out to my car yesterday. Ive been quoted £160 to get it fixed, is it possible to do it yourself? Any ideas on time it takes etc. Or is it just worth paying the money and gettin a professional to do it?

If the wear is due to worn rear trailing arm bushes (put the car in high level, stand about 10m behind the car and check if the rear wheels are leaning inwards at the top (severe negative camber). If so, the rear trailing arm bearings are shot and will cause severe wear in the inner edge of the rear tyres. And £160 is NOT expensive, especially if it also includes parts. You could do it yourself, but you might end up calling in help anyway if the retaining bolts decide to be difficult.

If it's the trailing arm bearings then I would pay the £160.
Others on here would disagree, but they are DIY gods (I mean it).
