Slide pin bolt C5 X7

Unread post by Clarkie89 »

Rear brakes have been making a horrendous noise. Checked them and one of the bolts that secure the caliper to the slide pins is missing. I've called my local citroen garage and they only sell the slide pin kit for £65 which seems a bit steep. Does anyone by chance know the size of those bolts?

My car is a 2009 c5 x7 with the cable handbrake

They only sell the bolts (7) separately and these are 12X150-30. The longer bolts (6) are part of a set that I think also includes those at (7) that you have been quoted for, as well as some other gizmo that I can't determine.

The bolts are the same size so if you take the top one out you can measure it. You often get new bolts with a pad kit - I've got a few spares kicking about here from various brake jobs, if you can measure yours and it's the right size, then I can send you one. Otherwise a tour of your local scrap yard!

I had to replace some similar function pins on a VW Golf not so long ago because the threads had stripped. It was a scrapyard job as I found that the carrier was also worn and I further found that it was a common fault and quite a difficult part to find.

It may be that the part for you is the same as on the Peugeot 407 or 508 and be easier to fond S/H.

The split pin set is not compatible with the 508, but is with the 407.
