The crystal Ball has run out of crystals and Mystic Meg is on holiday. You'll have to provide a bit more information and preferably a photo to be honest as this is not much help.

I think its supposed to protect the driveshaft gaiter from flying debris? Totally useless bit of plastic. I`m surprised its still there, they normally fall off or get left off.
