Re: Lexia
Well the description is contradictory on the laptop for a start, (RAM is quoted as being 3Gb in one area and 4Gb in another.... I don't like ads like this that have to 'big themselves up'.
Have a look at what other sellers are offering. I think Jim at easydiagnostics was offering pre-configured laptops too at one point - may help for a comparison Peter.

Re: Lexia
Thanks again Marc. I was watching one on ebay that went for £155 last week, but there a lot of others for a great deal more money.

Re: Lexia
LanceMyers has a good reputation and also delivers decent full-chip VC throughout Europe.
The price is acceptable - and the performance data is sufficient for a VM diagnosis.
If you install it yourself and have a suitable laptop that can be virtualised, you will of course save money.
Another alternative for self-installers is to buy the activation code for 10-20€. Then a laptop with WIN 7 32 or 64 bit or WIN 10 64 bit is sufficient. Virtualisation is then not necessary.
The current version is 9.129.
Greetings Wolfgang

Re: Lexia
Hi Wolfgang - that won't help with telecoding as V9.* won't allow configuration of ECUs in unconnected mode from PSA servers.
DB 7.** is more than adequate for Peter's C5 X7 and vehicles up to about 2015.

Re: Lexia
Hello Marc - correct - the V07 software incl. activation is available free of charge.
However, an interface and a laptop are always needed to install/use it.
Perhaps Peter N. cannot or does not want to do this and is therefore looking for a complete solution.
Vehicles up to approx. 2015/2016 can also be remote coded manually with the V09xx - only the later control units require an online code.
If Peter N. then buys a newer PSA car, the 9xx is the right choice.
He just wanted to know if the offer is acceptable.
Greetings Wolfgang

Re: Lexia
I need a 'plug and play' one, even though I was an electronics engineer for 50 years I only really understand analogue and valves. I nearly had a nervous breakdown trying to set up my first lexia about 20 years ago.

Re: Lexia
A timely discussion... I currently have a virtual machine running Vista, but it refuses to work with anything later than 7.02, which is no good for my 2017 C4GP. I'm not convinced the heating is 100% in the C4, so could be good to interrogate it. So, what OS should I use, and what version of Diagbox, and where can I get it?

Re: Lexia
You'll need DB V9.** Richard. These are available as stand alone versions that have a somewhat limited licence (may be locked to the hardware), or they can be sold as a virtualised version. I think the virtualised ones need VMWare which is usually included and therefore are already setup once the VM is up and running and image loaded. Windows 10 is supported, but likely needs a 64 Bit OS for virtualisation support.
I've put this off at present as my laptop doesn't support virtualisation. I will have to replace this at some point but not in a hurry and I may even be considering something else altogether with the one car now as manual telecoding is not really an option any longer.
Jim has all the kit at Easydiagnostics.

Re: Lexia
Sounds a complicated affair, will the one advertised work OK with my C5s?

Re: Lexia
Stumped up a whole 99p on e-bay for a copy of the 9.68 on a virtual machine, having discovered this laptop does support virtualisation. Set up this evening (much easier than actually installing the software!), and it seems to work so far, recognised and updated the firmware on the interface. Will get it plugged into the C4 in the next few days and check that it works, and have a mosey around the HVAC to see if anything looks amiss.
