Peugeot 2008 1.6 e-hdi air intake full of oil.

Post by shedman »

Just had the wife’s peugeot in for an mot, it failed miserably on emissions, the garage owner i know quite well and he took the car down the road to give it a clean out (boot it) he retested it and it just managed to scrape through the retest, I do not know what the reading was as i was not present when all this was done, he just said it need a checking over as something was wrong, he also said black smoke out of exhaust when engine was revved up.
On inspection i found all the air intake from the pcv valve through the turbo, intercooler and into the throttle body covered in engine oil, above the pcv valve all is clean.
I can only assume the culprit in this saga is the pcv valve passing oil, so the question is, is there a good aftermarket kit to repair the pcv valve or do I have to buy a complete cam cover.
The car is 2014 year and the engine is DV6C/E5 1.6 e-HDI 115 bhp.
All input and suggestions would be great fully appreciated.
Thanks,

Has anybody used the pattern plastic head covers off Ebay or the diaphragm kits for the PCV valve that are also available, if so are they any good.

Thanks for the video, yes catch cans have been fitted by some manufacturers for years and are proven to work, but you would think peugeot would have done there homework with the stock pcv valve or at least make it a serviceable part.
