I am new to the forum and I find some really usefull topics in here!
I have a c5x7 2.0 hdi 163 manual of 2011.
I am a little scarred because I purchased the car from someone for about 5 months ago and tomorrow I managed to check the LDS fluid reservoir. But, wait: on flat surface, I set to the top heigt, then to the bottom height, at cold of course, removed the reservoir cap and see the fluid between the markings A and B, but guess what? no fluid. So, I topped up the reservoir with LDS Total, the entire canister of 1 litre and no avail of the fluid between the markings.
My question: is there any problem raised in the long term for using such a low level of fluid in the system these 5 months (or maybe more, because I do not know the real history of the maintenance from the previous owner) ?
Of course, I will top up the fluid ASAP these days, because the LDS is available by the next day delivery in my country.

As long as the fluid is between the 'A' & 'B' settings as shown when the car is on flat ground and on the LOWEST suspension setting you will be fine.

It's possible the last owner had a leak and never knew how to check the fluid properly, but it's also possible that the suspension was checked when the system was fully depressurised with a diagnostic tool, which means a little more fluid returns into the system tank and this is when it is checked officially. So, now without it being depressurised with a diagnostic tool, some of the fluid may be below the level when the car is on the lowest setting using the manual control.

It will be fine checking it at the lowest manual setting as I've said, but don't over-fill it!

I read your replies on the subject on other topics and I knew about the markings but I wanted a better answer because ... today I managed to set the fluid level at the max mark finally but I filled another litre, so in total it went full 2 litre canister for the level to ve at the Top B mark.
Is there any problem that I should worry because of the system running without 2 litres from a total of 5.3 for the past 5 months (or who knows, maybe more) ?

I would run the suspension from full height to low height several times (which would help to move any trapped air to the reservoir and then out), followed by turning the steering from full lock to full lock (WITHOUT pausing at the locks, as this will strain the pump) for the same reason.

If you have'nt felt any strange choppy/noisy steering, i wouldnt worry too much.
The power steering runs out of fluid first.
