I've fitted a new gearbox to my wife's car, usual dramas but working ok, better than previous. One thing I've not got smooth yet is the gear selection. I've looked at the gear linkage and it all looks sound. The only adjustment seems to be on the gear lever/gearbox cable. Is there a tension value/ set up procedure for this?
Car is a 207cc, 1.6 vti, 5 speed manual.
Thank you.
Gear Selector adjustment.

Re: Gear Selector adjustment.
I'm not sure there is any nut to adjust tension. If the lever doesn't slide easily into gear then the metal clips that attach the cable need to be tightened. There should not be any "floppiness" in the mechanism.

Re: Gear Selector adjustment.
The tensioning is done on the gearbox end . The cables have the ball joints ends with tabs in lift the tab with flat blade screw driver make sure the arms they are on are as follows left one push right back towards the bulkhead then push the tab back home, right side losed tab ,pull linkage arm forwards then clip the tab back in.
As far as i know many cars Citroën of this era are similar across there range, i hope yours is the same and i hope this may help, if not for some other reason i do apologise , also is the clutch free of air ?
When i did my adjustments my car was nearly in the 4th gear position as soon as i did the left side i heard the gear select into 4th properly to which all gears were smooth .
