[FIXED] CENTRAL LOCKING PROBLEM 2015 Citroen Dispatch.

Post by bigfinger »

recently acquired this vehicle. Going through my snag list and this last problem is proving a doozy to solve.

The passenger door does not lock....

with all the doors closed the central locking works fine... you cannot open the vehicle with the handles of the rear, side or driver's door. But you can with the passenger door.

I thought it was a simple case of a faulty mechanism so I bought a new one and the problem is still there.

could it be something silly like a pre-delivery or transporting fuse left in so the passenger door can always be opened?

I thought it might be it's not latching over on the door catch but I can see no way to adjust the position of either the door catch or the body of the lock itself.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.. this one has me stumped especially as all the other doors lock on central with no-fault.

At the moment I've had the door card off and disconnected the external door handle cable so the handle does nothing meaning I can at least be sure people can't get into it.

The first thing I'd be doing is checking the wiring in the door aperture between the bulkhead (A Pillar) and the door. There should be a rubber grommet or tubing protecting the wiring. Opening and closing the doors over time (or in some cases a gust of wind forcing the door open wide) can be enough to wear the wiring and a weak point develops and a later break can occur.

If you can remove the tubing, check the wiring sleeves / connectors.

Pop your VIN up and I'll see if I can identify the specific wire.

ive tried to find which wire would be carrying the +ve for the locking motor because i think that might be the issue and it seems you agree. the system is obviously getting a signal that the door is closed or it wouldn't lock all the other doors so its got to be a break in the supply.

here the VIN:

VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

presume i drop off the car and check the relevant pin with a ground to chassis while operating the central locking?

thanks for the help and the reply BTW

Ok, so here's the wiring diagram for you, which should help. Ignore the colours of the wires as PSA don't go by colours and these change. Focus on the code on the wiring sleeve, which means you may have to look carefully to locate it, but it is repeated every so often on the sheath.

6202 is the front left door lock

Wiring
6204: Right-hand front lock locking + command
6205: Left-hand front lock deadlocking + command
6206: Right-hand front lock deadlocking + command
MC620: earth mc62
6232: closing locking output
6230: passenger´s door open locking input

ok so it looks like I'm looking for a voltage on lock/unlock on pin 4 and on pin 6... would that be right?

also check and see if i get continuity over pins 1 and 2 when closing the door?

and if I've got nowt it's the joy of tracing cables till i get one... not one of my favourite activities if im honest lol.

You've got deadlocking on this vehicle, so there is the locking function (usually single press of the locking button on the fob) and deadlocking after a second press.

Obviously it looks tied in with the driver's door wiring too. I'd be testing them all using the earth on pin 1 and see what's happening.

Did you check the loom between the body & the door? If there is going to be a break in the wiring anywhere i'd be 90% sure it will be in there. Pull the rubber sleeve back & give all the wires a tug, You will almost certainly find at least one broken wire I reckon.

Have you tried sitting in the vehicle and locking the vehicle as normal and tried to open the passenger door from the inside?
My lads old C4 2005 had a similar problem that it would lock all doors from inside and out except you could open the drivers door from the outside, it would be locked from inside.
Replaced mechanism etc and finally found the fault of a broken wire in the loom as Marc and wheeler suggested.
I was lucky it was obvious once i investigated in the right place

well, this gets stranger and stranger.

pin 1 is grounded.

voltage on lock at 4 and 6

I've got the lock out and when i operate the latch to fully closed you can hear and feel it activate, and indeed you cant open the lock with the internal handle but... you can with the external.

edit: HOW THE HELL do you remove the wiring loom from its sockets onto the main car body!!

edit2: found it! broken wire to the primary lock (outside handle) repaired and now i have to work out how to get this damn plastic collar and boot thing back in without taking the door off.
