RT4 to RT5 partial uppgrade?

Post by Viitonen »

I have Citroen C5 X7 2009 with original RT4. The hard drive is busted, so I bought a RT5 unit without the navi display. It was configured to my car with Lexia and it almost works. I know the old display has worse resolution but I hoped it was ok.

Here’s the situation: The display shows a quarter of what is supposed to show, kinda zoomed to left top quarter of the display. Also the radio doesn’t work, parking sensor sound doesn’t work and it doesn’t show the map location on the speedometer display as it should. It shows the location in navi display (only top left quarter).

I’ve heard a Magneti Marelli software that could solve this, but am unable to find from where and how it works.

And yes, I’ve heard that RT5 is not an original unit for C5 X7.

The RT5 can use the same screen as the RT4, but your screen will be low resolution as these were fitted until the NG4 and RT6 telematics units were fitted, which required High Res displays.

I suspect it is a matter of telecoding the new unit to match your vehicle options as I suspect the RT5 has likely retained some of the settings from the donor vehicle. You should have recorded all the ECU settings from Diagbox against the RT4 / BSI relating to telematics and ensured these are correct for the RT5.

Thanks Marc!
How do you record all the ecu settings? I still have the broken RT4 in the trunk. Can I use it somehow to get the settings?

You would need to reconnect the RT4 (make sure you disconnect the Quadlock connector first and reconnect it last).

When you are happy the system is operational or connected and working, you need to go into Diagbox, perform a global test, then when you see the list, go to the top, locate the BSI, enter that and from the next screen, go to manual configuration, then screenshot each page as you scroll, so you can see the settings that are recorded. and save these on your laptop. There may be quite a few pages, but the info is important regardless of whether you may think it is related or not, so make sure you capture it all.

I think I have your VIN already (ending in 712). I can then check configuration, but as you know, the RT5 was never fitted or intended to be fitted to the X7, so I can't guarantee the settings are the same for an RT5 unit as some settings may not be calibrated correctly.

Once you have posted all the screenshots, I will have a look at the configuration for you to rule out any incorrect configuration.

Thanks again! Well, before I start to do the reconf, there is the but: the hard drive of the RT4 is busted, so I’m afraid it won’t start properly. So, does it give the right configuration to BSI?

Ok, in that case, just repeat what I told you above, but with the RT5 connected. screenshot and upload all the BSI screens and I'll take a look to see if there's anything sticking out.

Okay Marc. Now I have lots of photos in my phone (the laptop is OLD and with Windows Vista without internet). Which ones should I post and to where?

The settings should be under ”driving comfort”, right?

Thanks!
