1.4 petrol VTi engine swap
Hi, short and simple but how easy would it be to swap a petrol 1.4 VTi in a 207 envy to the 1.6 GTi petrol engine, would I just need to change the engine and gearbox or would I have to totally rebuild the rest of the running gear

Count the spines on the drive shafts if they have same then the running gear should be fine, engine mounts might differ plus exhaust system too

Add to that steering rack with integrated power steering module which are different depending on engine and wheel size, clutch etc. etc., there are many components that are different and you have to remember you will need to get some official confirmation for the DVLA and declare to insurance.
I have a feeling the engine ECU is also different and if so, that will need replacing and virginising to re-pair with the BSI / Key Chips

To be honest it would be a lot less hassle to replace with like for like - but that still needs declaration.
