So….before Xmas I ended up stranded with a dead battery. They thought the fan stuck was an issue. However after 2 garages it stopped but they didn’t know how. New battery and away I went.
Fast forward to today and after a few short trips it is stuck on again. I have had to pull the battery to stop it. No fault light engine temp is going up and down as it should but the fans are full speed on even after ignition off. Let them run but after 40 mins I couldn’t wait for a new battery to drain so pulled battery.
Any ideas would be fantastic. Am considering grabbing a new controller but I haven’t a workshop manual to check location.
Thanks in advance
Neil

The control modules are contained within the engine cooling fan assembly. They will be either at the top middle, bottom middle or bottom left as you stand in front of the engine bay.

Thanks for the prompt reply. It’s the only thing I can think of. The engine temp is fine. Video on YouTube for a c4 where they disconnected and cleaned with silicone spray.

Just be careful, as you know as they can activate with the engine off. Sometimes water ingress / age can cause them to fail.

Thanks for the reply. Toying with cleaning first, give it a spray with silicon and if still not playing ball I will replace. Hopefully this is the problem as if not back to the garage it goes

Don't spray silicon spray or oil into the module - there are electronics in there. Use an electrical contact cleaner if you are going to disassemble the module.
Just for information, there were some issues related to the coolant outlet housing which affected this engine with Euro 5 standards (which yours is).
Have a look at my post to see if you can identify from the diagrams which unit you have:

You may already have the modification done or the modified unit, but may be worth a check.
