Xantia return "manifold"?

Unread post by spacial awareness »

Hi, hope someone can help me or point me in the right direction.

I live in southern Spain, my Xantia (1998 1.9TD) is up on the ramps at my local garage having failed it's ITV (Spanish MOT test) because of a hydraulic leak from the front left hand wheel area.

The mechanic tells me that a small manifold on the return circuit has a crack in it and needs replacing, problem is trying to locate the part. Citroen dealerships aren't any help.

Does anyone know what the part number may be and where I may be able to locate one in the UK

Thanks in advance [-o<

From that photo, I do not recognise the part, particularly as my Xantias have all been RHD.

Are any of the parts at: https://www.drxantia.com/index.php/en/p ... turn-hoses correct for this?

The photo isn't much help. Can you be more specific about where the leak is coming from?
Most common fault is a leak from the front strut rubber return pipes, or the rubber elbows/joiners that link the 3.5mm nylon pipes.

Well it was front left hand strut that is mentioned on the failure sheet, the mechanic sent me the photo saying he found the leak, a split in the plastic manifold pictured.
I'll go to the garage myself as soon as they are open again and get more details.

I am just wondering if it is the security/safety valve that is being referred to as the manifold?
I had a leak from the elbow on my old Xantia and the leak would run down behind the front left wheel. Looking at the picture it does kind of look like the bulk head of the car not the strut area?

I suppose it could be just as the op says a manifold, a bit like the junction in the middle of the BX octopus, if it is maybe he could do as I did with the BX, knock up a copy in aluminium.

Apologies for the late reply to the topic, I had to fly to the UK, my elderly mother died and I needed to be with the famiy for some time.

Meanwhile back in Spain the mechanics had the part made at a local machine shop which did the trick and it passed the ITV test (MOT) successfully and was ready for me when I returned.

Thanks again for all the replies. Happy Easter
