Diagbox not communicating with car

Post by HondaZ50M »

Windows Xp Pro 32 Bit (all security/firewall etc disabled)
Diagbox v7.57
PSA firmware v4.3.2 (green light on)

Will not communicate with car even if entering VIN manually. (I know the car is ok as works fine with my bluetooth OBDII dongle) software knows I'm connected to the car just won't communicate with it.

I think it may be a USB driver issue as I get a yellow warning marker next the Actia USB with driver ending 22.inf but if I select 19.nf (two possible drivers in list when trying to update) yellow warning goes away but reverts back to 22.inf when I next reconnect PSA. Anyway with either driver no comms with car.

I have tried to update driver to the evolution version of the driver but despite all download sources stating compatible for both 32 bit and 64 bit it only seem to have a 64 Bit install file so fails.

I have used the PSA in the past with an old now scrapped laptop which was running Vista Business.

P.S Does a new version of the software have newer versions of drivers i.e does diagbox V7.83 contain newer versions of the Actia USB drivers?

Any advice and help appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You probably need to go into / via the engine ECU, but I can't remember exactly how to do it....

Try using the Lexia component of the Diagbox - does it give you the choice? Your vehicle may be on the cusp of the change over to Diagbox.

Make sure you identify the correct model C4 Picasso, (not B78 or Picasso II), and have the correct RPO, If you need the engine code pop your VIN up if you don't already have it.

Tried Lexia 3 but for some reason all in French, but get same message not possible on cars pre 2009 (at the end of process after entering RPO number).

Lexia not requesting model seems to run from VIN number obtained from ECU

It sounds like there's some mix up or cross-configuration issues in your setup, as the language is incorrect and Lexia is designed for roughly 2008 and earlier vehicles not later ones.

The Diagbox software should be launched automatically for 2008 or post 2008 vehicles. The language should be English if selected ad Diagbox install. If you have installed a separate version of Lexia on your laptop this may be causing the issues - or if you have manually installed files from the CD outside of the main Diagbox installation programme.

Until your installation is known to be working correctly, there's no point in trying to go further I think and invariably, this involves a complete uninstall, specific folder wipe and Windows Registry change to remove all traces of all and any previous installations.

Hi there,
I don't quite understand the problem. The VCI was probably disturbed with the NLC firmware manipulation.
The vehicle was produced in January 2008.
It can - provided only the old LEXIA 345 with the update 348 is installed - be diagnosed with the Lexia 348 - firmware 4.2.2
If the Diagbox V07 is installed, no higher update than 7.57 = firmware 4.3.2 should be used for vehicles up to the beginning of 2015.
Higher updates make no practical sense.
If the alternative Diagbox/LEXIA is displayed in V07.57, DIAGBOX must be used because PSA has switched these models to DB. With the V05/V06/.. both were still possible.
Higher updates up to 7.82 should only be done if required for 2015/early 2016 vehicles - firmware stays at 4.3.2.
And the firmware should never be changed with the NLC software because this often results in the VCI remaining tied to the V07,xx.
New vehicles should be diagnosed with the V09... = firmware 4.3.7
Firmware changes are always made automatically with the software. Starting with firmware 4.3.3, scary and maitressox stopped this automatic change because it was feared that the China clones could cause problems. However, this was usually not a problem with the clones - the bigger problem for VCI is the modification of the firmware by NLC software.
Conclusion:
Either just reinstall the old LEXIA 345 + Update 348
or
reinstall the DIAGBOX 7.02 with update 7.xx - 7.57.
and first remove all old programs completely from the XP laptop.
If the VCI is still on strike - a new one is necessary - and please only ever install the firmware via the software.
Greetings Wolfgang

Hi Firmware version 4.3.2 will not communicate with car, could only get communication by rolling firmware back to v4.2.4 (firmware ONLY updates if PSA plugged in before initial start up of diagbox, if plugged in after start up firmware will not update)

Uninstalled diagbox, cleaned registry and reinstalled and updated to V7.57 (the most stable version).

Lexia now working in English but still states task not pssible for cars manufactured prior to 2009 and or my gearbox engine combination not possible - 6 speed manual (EGS) 2.0HDi
