Parts for Citroën C5 2002 1.8i DC/DE

Unread post by thesk3 »

Hi
I'm new on this forum and i just bought a used Citroën C5 2002 1.8i Petrol. It needs a lot of work thought not a problem for me. one thing is where to get spare parts for it, not just new parts but also used parts. Because i need a new or a used generator, i'd really like to go with a used generator 'cause the prices for a new is pretty step and i can't really find a proper used one in DK for the C5 1.8 2002 DC I Hatchback.
My question is then does it share parts with anyother Citroën models or for that matter any models of the PSA like Peugeot or Renault?

Many thanks in advance for any help you can give me CHEERS :D

Hi, and :welc: to the Forum.

You might want to see if any Danish parts supplier do reconditioned parts. GSF (in the UK) do this for certain items, and when I had to replace a starter motor (on my first C5) I was able to get a reconditioned one (at a better price than for a new one), and when I returned the old one to them (in the packaging provided) I got back some money.

It was more a question about, does it share parts with other vehicles from the PSA group.... like i had a VW Polo at one time, it shared parts with the Seat Ibiza mk2 and the VW Golf3, so in that way if i couldn't get a part specifically for the Polo i could then buy the same part for the Seat Ibiza and that would fit right on.
Does my Citroën C5 2002 mk1 share parts with any other car models?... example: maybe an alternator for a Berlingo or a Peugeot 307 could fit on? ... example: or maybe an alternator for a C5 mk2 2.0 or a C3 would fit on?

PSA do share parts amongst their marques and models, but it depends greatly on whether the same engine is fitted for a start, as engine parts tend to be specific to the engine model.

What you have to bear in mind is:

1) You have just bought a 20 year old car.
2) Many parts are already no longer officially available given the age.
3) It is a petrol engine and petrol C5s are the least common, so part availability on both the aftermarket and second hand market is going to be an issue for you these days.
4) You should be ok for most engine sensors, clutches, alternators, starters and most service items, however more specific parts may be difficult to locate. Suspension parts for the C5 MK I model are already no longer supported for struts except currently the rear left strut. Many pipes are also no longer available.

We can't provide you with a cross reference for all PSA vehicle parts - it is just not practical owing to the thousands of parts and variations.

For information and future reference, should you require any official part numbers, please refer to the following link - specifically the first post:

it's a bit more complicated.

1. If you have (free) access to the PSA hotline, you can use the specific part number to find out which other models the part is installed in. However, only Citroen or Peugeot can be queried.

2. With the specific part number of Citroen or Peugeot, you can often find alternatives to other brands and other parts manufacturers via the Google search.

3. If you enter the Citroen part number at Certus "https://www.der-ersatzteile-profi.de/", for example, you will be informed whether only the Citroen original part is available or whether there are alternatives. Other large spare parts dealers offer similar programs - certainly also in DK.

Hej
PM me your VIN and ill get you the right part number.

***Atleast here in Sweden its the diesels that are rare because the tax was 3x higher in diesels, until DPF became common. Which was around 2007.
Before that only taxies and travelling salesmen bought diesel, for mk1 C5 the ratio is like 1 derv to 10 petrol. Even the V6 is more common.
I have various repair handbooks and wiring diagrams for C5 mk1, Xantia, XM, Berlingo and C3 mk1.
I have Lexia/Diagbox (Sweden) and Servicebox/sedre

i'm further more confused by the specs of the generator, there are quite a few options... like 12 volts 80 amps, 12 volts 90 amps, 14 volts 90 amps, 14 volts 80 amps, 14 volts 120 amps ..... what should i go for?
