Automantic not working!

I have a C5 2.0 HDI 136 2006 is automatic, the mileage is 93,000 owned for 9 months due to bad knee swap for auto. I have issue is with auto, when is in shift D and I drove off the junction is fine smooth till change in 3rd gear it felt a bit like slip till 4th gear it makes worse when up the hill and off the accelerated the auto shift down straight to 2nd, it should be shifted down to 3rd it like skip to 2 gears! Likewise, I don't know if it is normal, all I can hear the engine speed increase, but the car is not move quickly. Furthermore, I was not sure if I have clutch plates or is torque converter? I do not have any warning lights.

93,000 miles it seems low mileage to have problem with gearbox? When I used the manual shift 1,2,3,4 and fifth no slip I am confused is possible oil leak on the plates? any ?

Could be low on oil, need to get it checked, if you run it too long low on oil it could destroy the box.

I have look the fluids is level, but the colour is brown, I am sure the colour should be red?

Not sure what you are defining as brown & red, these are photos of the oil drain bucket of my first oil change, look similar?

Yep my colour is same on the first picture, I went google for Citroën C5 automatic fluid is bright red. I think it need to change cos the brown colour might, the reason that my auto is not working well.

You have to be careful the pictures as some show ATF, which is really red.
I done three changes, four refills, (part) and used about 8 litres of fluid.
From memory, make sure you have the correct/good torx socket for the level plug as they are easily rounded if the Torx bit does not fit properly.
If money is not a problem buy a new level plug, about £0.82p each (in 2017)

Best, read other posts on this forum before you start, and give yourself a clear day, it shouldn't take that long, but you never know.
Also, here's a tip on how to fill, the reinforced pipe that is forced over the funnel has a piece of 15mm copper pipe in the other end, this fits snugly into the filler hole.

I did it in the very early morning, drain and refilled it wasn't an easy job! There are lumps of jelly at the bottom of the bucket. I don't think I have filter for auto?
The car wheels were off the ground, try the automatic shift all gears, let the fluid go round. And test driver the car is fine in D mode and manual shift, no skip of 3rd gears like before 4th to 2nd up the hills.
I can't believe bad fluids cause the gear to go crazy. But it all sorted now.
