Hi Guys,
New to this stuff and have limited knowledge on cars but am trying to learn.
I have had issues with my C4 Grand Picasso since I had the clutch replaced. It started with an engine fault and the ECO was always off, however last Thursday I started the car and go the below messages:
1.Parking Brake Fault have the viehcie repaired
2.Engine Fault have the vehicle repaired
3.Anti Roll back system fault
4.ESP/ASR system fault have the vehicle repaired
5.ABS fault have the vehicle repaired
I have had it plugged in and got U1213 and U1218
Would anyone have any clue what could be causing these issues?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Multiple Engine Codes on C4
My first thoughts are that whoever has done the clutch has upset the ESP system. 'U' codes denote communications problems with the data networks
U1213: Fault with the information sent by either the ABS/ESP ECU or the electric parking brake ECU: Value received incorrect. I assume you have the piloted manual gearbox on this vehicle. Post up your VIN (automasked on post submission) it will help us. This can be a fault with the piloted manual gearbox sending information to and from the handbrake ECU and / or the ESP ECU.
U1218 is a fault with the CBSI receiving invalid data, usually down to connectors or the intersystems CAN network.

Thanks for the quick reply Marc.
The garage said they damaged a sensor when changing the clutch but replaced it.
The VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Re: Multiple Engine Codes on C4
I'd take it back to them as they have clearly admitted the damage and this is likely another offshoot of whatever they have done. Once you have given them a chanve to fix it and it is still not correct, you will likely have a case for negligence.
Tracking communications faults can be difficult as it really needs proper equipment for testing multiplexed CAN systems in order to try and localise the fault. Either that, or get them to agree to pay for the diagnostic and possible repair / replacement parts at a Citroen dealership which has proper equipment to diagnose and test. You're the victim in all this after all.

As Marc says, the car needs to be read by a competent Citroen system computer. However, I wonder if they damaged the sensor, have they either damaged another or the one they damaged, did they replace it or "repair" itGiveMeABreak wrote: 01 Feb 2022, 17:13 I'd take it back to them as they have clearly admitted the damage and this is likely another offshoot of whatever they have done. Many of these sensors are extremely delicate and only require a fraction of the voltage (such as 5v) of the 14.8v the charging system puts out. If they decided to mend it, the outer mesh sleeve acts as a faraday cage to prevent any stray signals (any radio frequencies or phone, bluetooth and such) causing interference to the sensors delicate readings. Even soldering these can invalidate the readings they send to the CBSI as resistance is altered. The CAN network only needs tiny voltages and data signals for reference.
I note you mentioned the stop/start system. It needs a good charge in the battery to function well. I thought I had a fault, but it turned out to be the car only needed a good run to put some charge into the battery. I hadn't used it for a while and after a few good runs the S/S system is back to normal. Ensure the battery is fully charged and also make sure they connected all the engine earths as this too can interrupt a few CAN systems. My Range Rover and my Jaguar XK8 "DEMAND" a fully charged battery or they go a bit haywire, reporting this and that is all to pot when in reality, it's nothing more than a partially discharged battery.
Good luck with it and I suggest doing as Marc suggests with the clutch fitting place.
Has anyone seen the plot?
