Citroen C4 bsm faulty

Unread post by naragorn »

Hey ppl, I've just registered but I've been reading through these forums for a while now. So I own a 2006 A/T citroen C4. A couple years ago my bsm unit got faulty and my car wouldn't start. So after a lot of reading I found out it was due to a faulty solder joint at a relay, so I broke the bsm apart and was able to resolder it, it worked pretty well up until a few month ago, I started to get error messages at the display panel and my cooling system(fan, a/c) would shut down all of a sudden, so I assumed it was the bsm. So I want to change my bsm, the problem is that I unknowingly and stupidly removed the sticker with the part number and trashed it when I first repaired the bsm, I know now that I needed that number to find a replacement since no one sells this unit, I can only find it second hand. So in a desperate effort I paid the 5.5 euro in the citroen service page to try and find the spare, but it only gave me the citroen part number (6500ck) and not the OEM part number which I needed. Whenever I search google for the citroen part number (6500ck) I only find the bsm l04 unit, but my car has the l06 unit (siemens), the only sticker I didn't remove. Do you know of a way to find out the OEM part number so I can search this unit as as second hand.

As long as you have the correct PSA part based on your VIN (6500CK if that is what is listed), you'll be fine. They may have several suppliers of the units, but the 6500CK number or the equivalent provided by the manufacturer (as long as it cross references to 6500CK) will be ok.

These are about £320 from Citroen or you can get a new one from various suppliers like Eurocarecare.net.

Wow! Thanks for your prompt reply! I've checked those pages and found out they ship to my country (Chile) so that's great, love this car but the bsm and the lack of spare parts at my country it's kinda disappointing. So as I understand it doesn't matter if the original was a siemens l06-00 unit and the replacement it's a siemens l04-00 as long as the spare part it's a 6500ck? My fear is since this would be a international buy, that there will be troubles when installing it, most common problem I've read is the wipers won't turn off.

As long as this part number is referenced on the replacement you should be fine. On the MK I C4 there is not programming required of the engine fuse box, only the MK II C4 needs programming.

Hello everyone,

I'm going to resurrect this one not to open another thread.

my c4 coupe 1.6 hdi has a BSM-L06-00 that is probably faulty and causing trouble. I've got a new BSM-L04-00 I could drop in. Are they compatible? I've read about people that had no problems...
