ZX accelerator cable - much of a job?

Post by uhn113x »

Hi folks - the cable on my ZX TD looks a tad frayed at the pump end - I cannot see how it is routed through the manifold/turbo slough of despond. Is it much of a PITA to replace? On a scale of 1 (p of p) to 10 (BX clutch cable)
And, yes, I do know the 'tie a piece of string to the old cable' dodge - BTDT

Done this one; As it was only the inner that was frayed, I only replaced the inner! This has to be the easiest way...

Hi Simon
Oh - that sounds like a really good idea. Which end did you remove?
I have just done an emergency repair on mine by shortening it by about 3 inches - went to unsolder the nipple at the pump end, and it disappeared! Made of lead or something! [:(]
Not to be beaten, I turned one up from 6mm brass rod and put a 4BA grubscrew in it.
