Hi
I pulled off two non specific codes UI601 and UI700 that state CAN communication fault and it looks like this is the body control module not communicating with the airbag system. I think the fuse box in the dashboard where the EOBD socket is located is also the Body control module. Is that so?
My idea is to remove this module and send it for repair to hopefully cure the fault or at least get specific codes off the system to help diagnose the problem.
I’m aware a new unit would need coding in at a dealer whereas as long as I isolate the battery before removal a repaired unit should work again without coding.
I went to remove the fuse box but it is bordered by a metal dashboard bracket making removal appear awkward.
I’m at the point of trying to get hold of workshop manual processes for dashboard strip as it looks like more parts have to be removed than should be necessary to remove the fuse box / BCM.
Can anyone offer any help with this, please? Has anyone suffered the same fault?
Regards John

Yes the BSI is the one next to the OBD socket. It is designed to be difficult to remove as its part of the security system. There are a couple of shear bolts holding the metal bracket, i just use a small reverse flute socket & knock it over the top to unscrew them.

Hi thanks I will try removing the security bolts to remove the BCM for removal, I feared a full dashboard strip.
