Peeling buttons...

Post by tomaskriv »

Hi all

I believe some had/has this issue. Peeling buttons. In my case its Vol- button on steering wheel. It was damaged when we purchased the car. Getting worse with time. I know thst the best solution is to replace button with the new one. Still, maybe someone knows good DIY method to fix this.
Ive seen videos on youtube with enamel marker. Will try to get one to see if it relly works.

Thank you all for possible information.

Merry Christmas!

You'll find the Chinese often sell 'sheets' of generic radio button symbols / text that you can try.

Thanks Marc. Tried. Not a big win. Those vinyl stickers start to rub off an you have white sticker on button that peels away....if you try remove that sticker, sometimes it peels even more paint from button.
Will try scrapyards.

I think you'll find the control module is a complete unit - the circular unit that goes around the steering wheel containing all the controls. which would be quite expensive. I would use a bit of opaque paint (to allow the light to shine through at night) if you have a steady hand.
