Hi,
I'd appreciate any advice if anyone has changed a 5008 gear cable. I've had a few occasions where the gear won't move across to allow me to go into 5th or 6th. Up and down movements fine. It seems stiff moving from neutral over to move to be able to enter 5th and 6th. If I unclip the cable at the gear lever all is smooth.
I've removed the centre consile and have access to the gear lever end and it loks like I'll need to remove battery and battery tray to get to gearbox end. Will it pull out from above the car or is it connected underneath somehow too? (If it is I'll probably leave it to a mechanic!)
It looks like I'd pop off cables both ends, remove the rubber grommet at bulkhead and replace, but I'm just checking for any catch outs!
All help much appeciated.

Re: 5008 gear cable
I'd be a bit careful as there are some tools needed for positioning the gear lever and for locking the gear shaft whilst adjusting.
The following need to come off as well as the air inlet ducting for a DV6 or air resonator for the EP6 engine for access:

- The battery carrier

- The centre console frame
- The protectors (Control lever)

Re: 5008 gear cable
Thank you for this - you've probably saved me getting in a right pickle!
It's free'd up and moving now - do you think the cable can be lubricated in situ - if so, how and with what?
Or will I just be wasting my time?

It probably needs adjusting, so I would ask them to look at it when you next have it serviced at Peugeot. I'm not sure how old your vehicle is as you didn't mention it, but if it's still under 3 years old then they should sort this for you for no charge.
