Finally found this :) Hello!

Unread post by 10mbc »

Hello! While I am on this forum for some days now, I just found out this section and I would like to introduce myself.

I am Alin, I am from Cluj-Napoca, Romania and I recently got a Citroen C5 2.0 HDI 110hp from 2003. While this car has some issues, it had a lot more when I bought it but it was the best I could find. I just wanted to have a Citroen C5 for a while until all of them get banned or heavily taxed in the cities, as it seems that is short to follow here.

While I like this car very much, it is the only car I have at the moment and it bugs me that I can't enjoy it to the max. Hope I will fix it and all will be well.

Just for the reference, the cars I had in the past:
1989 Citroen BX 19 TRD (first car)
1991 Citroen BX TZD Turbo ABS AC
2004 Citroen C5 Facelift 2.0 Petrol 140hp
---some company cars----
2011 Skoda Fabia Estate 1.6 TDI 90hp
2008 Dacia Logan Prestige 1.6 16v 105hp
2016 Hyundai i20 1.1 CRDI 75hp (for 2 hours :) )
2019 Hyundai i30 1.4 MPI 100hp Comfort
2003 Citroen C5 2.0 HDI 110hp

Cheers!

Hi 10mbc, welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your time here.

Hi Alin, welcome aboard, I hope you will get the car to how you like it soon, the problem now days is people 'just' drive cars they look after them and if they do they ask a garage to do the work, but if the price is too much they don't get it sorted. Your car just needs a little TLC. Good luck

Thank you all for the good wishes!

I have no problem paying for the work but my mechanic just told me "it's all good, I don't know why you have this issue". So I went to another garage today and it seems like the have found a ball joint that is bad. Hope that will fix the issue.

Just to put it in context, after I got my car i have fixed / replaced:
-new sway bar connection link
-new windshield + new wipers all around
-new headlights stock
-new engine oil + transmission oil + brake / clutch flush + all filters including the diesel filter
-new brake disk + pads in the front, rear will follow, they were not available on the spot.
-steering wheel - replaced with a leather one and totally replaced the leather.
-installed cruise control
-new battery
-new summer Dunlop tires
-used from another car Michelin winter tires
-new dedicated mats
-new wheel bolts for summer (they were 19mm and the original wrench is 17mm).
-replaced CD Player
+others I don't remember

My pet peeve is this "All is good" when I know well something is not good because I know how a good working car feels :) I have no problem paying for the car to be fixed, I bought an old car knowing I will have to put some money into it. But I like this old car and I would like to use it as long as we are still allowed to use Euro3 Diesel cars around here. And yes, I have payed more in parts and labor than I payed for the car. And yes, I know I am never getting that money back, but I want a nice car for myself.

Rant over :)

Its good to know that it is just not us old Brits who appreciate the benefits of looking after the car so it will look after you!!

Well said Alin!! :-D
