C5 II seat memory retrofit

Post by zulu »

I just bought a 2006 C5 II Exclusive 2 litre HDI Auto Estate. It has full electric front seat heating/adjustment but no memory. Is it possible to enable the memory function? There are three spare buttons on the console I could use to program the positions.
Thanks, Steve

Hi and welcome

No - the MK II never had memory functionality for the seats.

What 'spare buttons are your referring to - can you post a picture?

Thanks.
The German handbook that came with the car didn't mention memory, but all the English versions of the 2006 model I can find did, and it seems strange to have them as separate options so although there were several obvious differences (function-laden steering wheel for example) I thought I'd ask :-)

... ah, the buttons are on the bottom row of the console.

The car's outside and there's a freezing Siberian wind otherwise I'd get you a photo...

I think we may be talking about different cars?

The MK III (X7) from 2008 has all the buttons on the steering wheel. You mentioned 2006 which is a Mk II and that didn’t have any buttons in the steering wheel, hence my confusion

Yes, my confusion too.The user manual was in German and so I downloaded what I assumed were English versions of the same manual, and those included seat memory - and the buttony steering wheel, which I assumed was an option. I downloaded all the manuals I could find for 2005-2006-2007 but they were all the same. Then I looked through the German manual, which described the car I had (albeit incomprehensibly), and so I retired, thoroughly confused and ending up here... I don't know the C5 at all, my partner bought it a couple of days ago and asked me to figure things out... :-)
