C3 Picasso Power Steering

Hi, my mum has a 2011 C3 Picasso. Recently the power steering failed which put her on the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic. No accidents thankfully. 
reading forums I found out about an inherent problem with the PS. The car went to Citroen who confirmed the issue. 
I would like to ask members, who have had the issue and had it repaired by Citroen, how old their car was at the time and what was the mileage. Ours is 10years 3 months old with less than 40k.

Same age as yours and was replaced under Citroen good will....
