Hi all
Just thought I would post an observation I made this morning.
I was turning my 2009 diesel C5 round in a car park earlier today and saw smoke in passenger door mirror.
I thought I would rev the car to see if it got any worse and to my surprise the car would only rev to around 2500 rpm, I thought something was wrong with the car until I took it out of gear and it revved normally.
The smoke turned out to be condensation the reduced revs must be a built in safety device
Any other opinions?
Regards
Steve

Re: Reverse gear
My 16v 1.6 hdi 90 won't rev past 2500 in neutral, not checked it in gear with the clutch pressed. I presumed it was linked to a speed sensor to stop you revving the balls of it. At least you don't have to worry at MOT time.

Notice the BX is still top the list but sadly gone

Re: Reverse gear
Hi
Never thought to try it just with the clutch down
I thought it was because it was in reverse with clutch down.
I shall investigate
Just checked
Clutch down car revs normally
Reverse gear and clutch down 2500 rpm
So reverse gear only
Thx

Re: Reverse gear
DPF regeneration with Lexia puts it up to 3750 rpm in neutral.
