Hello folks
My 2010 X7 Exclusive 165 BHP has developed a ticking noise when I turn to the right.
It sounds to be coming from the passenger side.
I know from other cars that this could be a driveshaft bearing- does this seem likely?
And am I ok to continue using the car until it's fixed?
C5 X7 Driveshaft??

Re: C5 X7 Driveshaft??
It might be worth checking the CV boot and Joint. Regular clicking could be a dry/worn CV joint. If it is just a boot and dry joint you might be able to salvage it.
Get it inspected ASAP.

Re: C5 X7 Driveshaft??
Sounds like a CV. PSA these days only supply driveshafts complete I believe but quite often the CV's are available on their own from alternative sources. Being a Citroen, I'd expect it to be held on with a sprung 'c' clip, basically hold the driveshaft in place and snot the CV with a hammer. Look that up first though as I'm partially guessing

Re: C5 X7 Driveshaft??
A worn CV makes a very distinctive noise, not really a 'tick', but very difficult to describe, but you won't mistake it for anything else once you know.
Some X7s have shafts where the CV is not removable, Cit helpfully suggests you can tell by the label on the shaft...like that's going to be there!! After that the only way to tell will be to pull the boot back and see if the joint is floating.

Thanks for the replies.
It's off to Savoy next week and will probably need a driveshaft.

A quick update;
After inspection it looks like a driveshaft isn't the culprit- luckily as they are out of stock (you know Brexit , no drivers Covid etc.)
Savoy are fitting some bushes to the lower suspension.

It's very likely the lorry driver issue on the transport front - or lack of them at present - most of the parts generally shipped in from France anyway.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

Re: C5 X7 Driveshaft??
The duchess's X7 tourer has been off the road for weeks due to a narked o/s inner CV joint, shaft 3272yw in case you're wondering, and the current maelstrom of circumstances has resulted in this driveshaft being as elusive as bx 4x4 awd compoenets which everyone knows were made from castings of pure unobtanium.rogerc5 wrote: 20 Oct 2021, 11:09 A quick update;
