Keycard

Post by Gibbo2286 »

The Zoe came with two key cards, one works the other pops up 'Key card not recognised' so I've taken it apart (I know.. it's not supposed to come apart) but here's what I found, a soldering job might fix it....we'll see later. :)

Very possibly microswitches (unless it's not the locking / unlocking that is the issue) otherwise battery or damage from being dropped I would suspect. Can't see much from the image as it's a bit fuzzy, but possibly a dry solder joint too.

The round bit shown at the top is a coil that has three legs that should be soldered to the board but have broken away Marc. soldering it back into place later when other chores are done.

Good luck - my soldering skills are crap - can't seem to get any proper flux now - it's all this modern stuff that's pretty much useless!

Very common issue on Renault key cards. I've never come across one that has completely detached like that though, normally it starts as an intermittent fault when one of the legs detaches & it makes contact sometimes. My best guess would be its caused by keeping the card in a trouser pocket & it constantly flexing all the time.
Re soldering it will almost certainly bring it back to life.

Well that's a success all works as it should so I now have a spare key if the other one gives me trouble. :)
