Glove Box Light
Hi everyone,
Is there a particular recommended website that you can buy spare parts for your Peugeot 3008? The glove box light and the courtesy lights in my car are not working. I called the Peugeot Dealership that quoted me £30 per light to be replaced.
I have searched the web and have seen eBay (from China) providing you parts, but wonder if there is a go-to website that the forum can recommend?
Thanks in advance,
AA

Re: Glove Box Light
You are not going to get OEM body parts and internal bespoke parts from aftermarket sellers, apart from bulbs and a few common types of light housings that are used in common by a lot of manufacturers (like rear number plate lights) - there is no profit in cloning and manufacturing them.
But in your case, I suspect it may only be the fuses or the bulb in the light itself. These are easy to change yourself and should be looked at first of all. The sill and glovebox lamps are W5W standard bulbs. For the glovebox, once you have removed the lighting unit, you can unclip the lens and replace the bulb. It's the same for the map lights in the ceiling - same bulbs, but it can be a bit fiddly removing the lamp unit and lens from the ceiling console, so be careful here.

Re: Glove Box Light
Ok great. So is there any suggestions why the light is the glove box and the storage box are not working at all ? Is there a fuse that these two are linked to ?

Re: Glove Box Light
Fuse F7 located in the BSI is responsible for:
Front / Rear Ceiling Light
Glove Box Lighting
Card Reader
So if that has not blown - I would check the bulbs.

Re: Glove Box Light
Hey, fuse is working. If the fuse had blown, would the other lights still be working ?
I’ve changed the bulb to and it’s a no go. Should I disconnect the battery and see what happens ?

Re: Glove Box Light
Not any of the lights I mentioned - and the 'Card Reader' lights are the map lights next to the front ceiling light.
I can't see the battery disconnection doing anything to be honest - are the rear ceiling lights working? If they are then it's not your fuse.
One last thing to check that I've seen time and again is the SHUNT fuse.
Make sure the Shunt fuse is in Customer Mode and not PARK / PARC position - this cuts off some electrical draining functions when the vehicle is being stored. Check your manual under the fuses to see the correct position it should be in, but for the 3008 it can be either above or below the bottom row of fuses as shown below depending on the BSI fitted to the 3008:
If it is in position 'a' or 'c' (shunted to the left) it is in Park mode and incorrect.
If it is in 'b' or 'd', (shunted to the right) then it is in Customer Position and correct.
So if it is correctly shunted to the right, I would put some pressure on the fuse to make sure it is well-seated in the fuse socket.
Also double check that F7 fuse - don't rely on a visual check, it should be a 5 Amp fuse - unless of course any one or the previous lights I mentioned are working, in which case it is not the fuse.

Re: Glove Box Light
Seems to be fitted correctly. Could it be that the light itself may have been damaged whilst trying to change the bulb ?

Re: Glove Box Light
It's not that easy to break as the contacts are inside the unit - and unlikely (though not impossible) that both the bulb in the glovebox and the ceiling courtesy light have both gone at the same time (I assume), but easy enough to check the bulbs once you have them exposed.

Re: Glove Box Light
hi, would this apply to a Pug 207? I have same issue as OP, all lights work fine, interior etc, but glove box light doesnt, changed bulb, checked its push switch, it works off the car tested on bench.GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑25 Sep 2021, 08:40 Not any of the lights I mentioned - and the 'Card Reader' lights are the map lights next to the front ceiling light.

Re: Glove Box Light
Yes, for your 207:
"a" Customer configuration.
"b" Transit configuration.
"a" Customer configuration.
"b" Transit configuration.
- Switch off the ignition
- Wait 2 minutes for the BSI to switch to standby
- Remove the flap to access the fuses
- Remove the shunt from the park position "b"
- Place the shunt in the customer position "a"
- Press the shunt further in, to force it fully into its housing
- Refit the fuse access flap
- Check that the fuse access flap is flush

Re: Glove Box Light
None apart form the bulb, the electrical connection or the actual contact switch unit itself (the bit that makes or breaks contact when the lid is opened or closed), or the BSI or the connection (socket / plug / pin) to the BSI.

Re: Glove Box Light
Hi,
I read somewhere that because ive replaced the courtesy lights that’s it’s had an affect on the BSI. Is this true ? Can the BSI be reset ?

Re: Glove Box Light
Replacing a courtesy light bulb has no effect on the BSI. But if you want to reset it anyway, the guide is here:
