2007 Citroen Relay 2.0HDi Timing Help

Post by Edhertz »

Posting to ask if one of you good people out there can give me some advice regarding the timing procedure of a 2007 Citroen 2.0 HDi Relay engine which has suffered a belt failiure. The reason we are doing this is because on inspection we found most of the rocker arms broken thus giving us hope that it can be saved. The engine number is DYTR3032767. Thanks for your replies in advance.

The engine number is DYTR3032767.
That will likely mean nothing to anyone, thats basically just the unique serial number of the engine. Really need the reg or VIN to identify the engine type.
If its a DW10 engine this should be a rough diagram.
Timing belt replacement is fairly straightforward on this engine.
Cam pulley pins with a 13mm bolt & the crank is pinned via the flywheel. A square key to manually tension the belt. You are meant to use a SEEM gauge to get the correct tension but i never have.
make sure you get a magnet in & try to fish out all the little needle rollers from the broken rockers.

Thanks for prompt reply and info. The VIN is : VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] ........... hope this helps to identify engine. Can't be too sure but we think we have got all the shrapnel out. Assuming No1 piston is nearest gearbox do we have to remove injector to determine tdc?

OK its a DW10TD. Its actually a 2006 model so will be one of the last Relay MK2's.
Thats why i wanted to check the engine code as a 2007 model would likley be a Ford puma engine (with timing chain).
When you peg the flywheel make sure the woodruff key is at the 12 o'clock position to get TDC.

Thanks for reply. My Haynes says the Xantia HDi 90 and HDi 110 models have the DW10 TD and DW10 ATED engines. There is a reasonable description of the timing porocedure following a top overhaul. Describes correct alignment of timing holes on flywheel and camshaft sprocket hub with No 4 piston at TDC on compression stroke,
