Hi, The ABS lght has come on, what do I need to do to resolve the issue. I have been told that its an MOT failure. any help gratefully received Terry.

Yes, an ABS light on is an MoT failure. If you have a multi-meter it is possible to see if you have a sensor/wiring issue. The following link shows you how to test the sensors (and, coincidentally, the wiring to them). If you DO find a sensor has failed be aware of the fact that, when you replace the sensor, you have to drive the car for the ABS system to put the light out (the ABS ECU has to 'see' there is wheel rotation for it to be 'happy' the sensors are working).

Note that there were 3 or 4 different generations of ABS fitted to the Xantia during its production run, and the pin numbering at the ABS module changed at least once, so it is a good idea to identify which version you have.

The first version (up to about 1995 I think) suffered from ECU failures, but the later ones tend to be reliable, other than the occasional sensor and wiring issue. Mk1 sensors can be hard to find these days.
