xantia owners

can you answer this question,
when looking under the bonnet of your xantia next to the lhm tank you will see a bracket that has two vacum switches on. one i know is for the idle up for cold starts and for when the air/con is switched on. that is the one on the left but what does the one on the right do as mine has packed in and does not work????????

It controls the EGR (exhaust gas recycling) valve, it is the green one of the two, leaving it that way wont harm anything and will infact be better for mpg, but it would be somewhat anti social as its a pollution reducing device.
