Upgrade of Speakers / Add Sub Woofer

Post by bph2503 »

Hi, I have just got my DS7 (2019) 2.0 HD Performance Line and want to know how to upgrade the basic sound system. Any help much appreciated. Also, would the wiring be there for the Dash Clock on other models?

Cheers,
Barry

hi. Welcome to the Forum. Do you have any specific plans in mind for what you want? No doubt someone out there will have some ideas from previous upgrades. Pop in your ideas and we will see what is simple and what is not.

Hi Barry, unfortunately not.

You will have either the 'DS Connected Radio' or 'DS Connected Nav' if you have Satellite Navigation.

The audio system is entirely integrated into the Head unit that serves as a gateway for the vehicle configuration, infotainment and telematics, as well as to configure vehicle safety options. The upgraded HiFi systems that were available on some trims and options are heavily integrated into the vehicle's wiring harnesses unless you want to rip everything apart, I think I'd put up with it.

Have a look instead through the units options for audio configuration. Normally each source has individual configurable options for the sound. I've often found people didn't realise this and have never customised each sound source, whether Radio, DAB, Music from MP3 USB etc. Have a look at the user profiles and check out the settings / loudness / and see if you can't get a better output.

Hi Marc,
Really appreciate your advice. I was hoping that maybe changing the speakers for better quality ones would be an option...used to high quality and high volume from previous cars but find the basic DS7 sound...low and with not much base even after creating a profile etc.

Really loving the car though!! lol

Cheers,
Barry

There's nothing stopping you from trying to improve the speakers (or at least the ones easily accessible in the doors) if you feel this may make an improvement - it will just be a matter of getting ones that fit. Best of luck.
